YOU’RE IN BIG TROUBLE!
The deadline for your article was on MONDAY, but I don’t even see so much as a first draft from you! Mr. Weiss told me that whoever doesn’t have their article in by now is in big trouble. The absolute final deadline to have the articles published in the paper is WEDNESDAY, but we may not meet that deadline now because YOU didn’t turn in your work. Even if you were to post your article to your blog on Wednesday, it would be too late because we were supposed to already have the articles edited, proofread and with sidebars!
Please, next time, stick to the deadline. The fate of a newspaper depends on it.
But still turn it in ASAP!!!! Like, NOW!!!!

Hello News Staff Writers –
We got the first issue out. Whoo! The next print issue is supposed to be out around the middle of January. Before then, we still need to come up with ideas for the online version. This is the hard thing about being a news writer – you can’t really “plan” news. Since we can’t predict the future, it’s kind of hard to pull news stories from out of the air. So what we need to do is get some leads or “beats” about what’s going on around school. I’m going to talk to Mr. Weiss and people in the office on Monday so that we can get some news stories to write about.
Construction is kind of “played out”, as is the FCAT. We already wrote about Staph, and there are no other big scares at school.
There’s going to be an Attendance Pep Rally on the 16th. That’s news that can go up on the site, maybe. And someone could write about the Miami Beach election results.
Anyway, I did come up with three ideas for the January issue, you can check them out on my blog. Maybe they’ll give you inspiration and you guys can work on an investigative journalism piece of your own about a school policy or something like that.
But don’t worry, guys! We’ll get out of this rut. I’ll write you again on Monday, and hopefully I’ll have some leads on potential news stories.

i really liked the wrestling article.
It was very interesting and is a fun story to the sports section.
you did a grat job getting information and following the deadlines. the only thing that need work is sentence structure and when you put what info in the article but that will improve as you start to write more sports articles.
Remember, the girls softball team won a game 10-0 the other day.

do u have any ideas about the topic ofyour first article?
i was thinking you could write an article on the basketball player that was named to the all-dade team and then a mention of the player who made 2nd team all-dade. this could be like a double profile piece with some interaction between the two, kind of like a double interview if possible. you can talk about their succesful season on a personal level and as a team.

there are alot of wording issues especially in the second paragraph. I will get to that after you finish your interviews and fill up most of the holes. Good job keeping deadline.

i know that at districts, the girls waterpolo team played a very tough, double overtime game against miami high. many of the players have strong opinions on the games struggles and their relief of finally winning. you should interview sophomore, Erin Albert. She has very strong opinons on the game and will give you something good. If you need any help contacting her call me and i will help you.
one of the twins got the game winning goal so you might want to interview them.
if you have a better idea, feel free to tell me and go with it.
