First Draft
Double athlete, senior Donnie Gaitor has a striking talent representing Miami Beach Senior High in both Basketball and Football. Averaging 15 shots and 15 rebounds in basketball (INSERT STATS FOR FOOTBALL) Gaitor is well on his way for a bright future in either sport.
After the All Star game on December 22, 2008 there will be a clearer view on which schools will recruit him. Gaitor adds, “Of course I would love to play something I love but if doesn’t work out I have always wanted to make the next little kids dream to make it. I would like to open up a recreational center, like a youth center of some sort. With rims, tennis courts, all sorts of sports area for them to practice.”
Gaitors basketball calling began in middle school. Gaitor explains “my P.E coach saw somewhat of a talent and so he recommended the high school coach for the school to come check me out and then from there on the sky is the limit.”
Gaitors football interest began at an early age of (PUT AGE) “it was my first love” said Gaitor. Donnie Gaitor has been part of the basketball team for four years and part of the football team for three years.
Over the course of Gaitors four year in Miami Beach Senior High he has improved tremendously. “With the help of Coach Garcia he helped me develop a shot. I use to shoot from my chest up with two hands. Gaitor explains, I just had to keep on practicing. There was this one time where I had to put my right hand behind my back and I had to do everything with my left, on and off the court. Eat with my left, write with my left, soon it became a habit and I got used to it. I thank him for that.”
Besides the improvement in basketball Gaitor has improved his agility skills for football. “I can say I gained speed. Football is all about leg work. He would make me come out with the parachute and run down the field. During the summer I would run for a long period of time, or run quick sprints Coach Jimenez made me stronger and I would like to thank him for that”, said Gaitor.
Being the captain of both teams has required much responsibility. I feel like I had to be a leader, talk for everybody and be that last voice so everybody can be motivated and get inspired, so they can do what they have to do in the court. Make sure there is communication between us to try to zone out everybody, and be there if anybody needs me.
Indeed the teachers and electives have also captivated Gaitors attention for school. Gaitor says “Oh man I think I’m in love with Mrs. Oliphant and Mrs. Baez. The way they teach me the way I learn makes me want to come to school even more, like bad. A teacher never had that type of impact on me. Honestly I like bio forensics. The whole CSI type of thing, trying to figure out clues, it’s all good. I like that.”
As the class of 2009 graduates, Donnie wants to be remembered as “a solid, loving, double athlete who was just real cool , try to pput a mile on your face and someone you could come up to and talk to.”

This is what Jimenez said back:
1 he had 1 interception return for a TD and he recovered a fumble.
2 there aren’t any schools looking at him seriously due to the fact that he has not taken the ACT SAT exams.
3 Great attitude!!!!
4 hard 2 say he only played 4 or 5 games in total
5 He returned an interception back for a TD versus North Miami
